Original Starting Line Area

Milled Surface
New 3 inch paving material in preparation for polyurethane surface
Using a mixing machine that is calibrated precisley to mix SBR rubber granules with a polyurethane binder.

The base mat or E-layer is then put on the asphalt track surface using a new German made
paver that ensures a consistent 10mm (1/2 inch) base mat.

As can be seen by the photo, every effort is made to make sures the seams are tied together
and the borders are straight down the entire length of the track.

For a six lane track, it takes two passes to pave the entire width of the track.

The final layer of polyurethane is again mixed by the calibrated mixing machine and then hand spread over the mat surface. After spreading the polyurethane, EPDM granules are broadcast over the area, providing a uniform finish to the track surface. Excess EPDM granules will be swept off the surface after a period of drying. Norton decided to go with a black sandwich system that will have lines and logos painted on by a surveyor to complete the project.
